Contact: UCCE Master Gardeners 209-223-6838
Sponsor: UCCE Master Gardeners of Amador County
There are many advantages to living in or near a forested area of the foothills. However, these environments require care and maintenance to stay healthy and fire safe. The UCCE Master Gardeners of Amador County will be offering a free Public Education class, "Fire-wise Landscaping" on Saturday, June 6, 2020. This class will focus on how best to maintain and keep healthy the forested landscape to improve fire safety around our homes, from natural vegetation to compatible plantings and appropriate fire-resistant landscaping. The class will include a brief update on the effects of drought and bark beetles and how to reduce future tree mortality; reforestation do's and don’ts; information on when and how to water different plantings effectively; the importance of thinning overcrowded vegetation; removing slash and maintaining defensible space; and planting the right tree in the right place.
This class will be held as a virtual meeting so that we can support the current Social Distancing guidelines for Amador County. Please register in advance for this meeting at the below web site:
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
