In 1957 following college JoAnne began her private sector career as a Pricing Engineer for an electrical component division of International Telephone and Telegraph Corporation in Santa Ana California. She became an Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Marketing for the same company, until in 1972 to 1978 she ventured into owning a motel in Virginia City, Storey County, Nevada

 The opportunity to serve the Storey County Commissioners as an Administrator came in 1979, responsible for budget preparation, grant writing and administration, and County representation at State Legislative hearings.  From 1993-1997 she was the  Assistant County Manager for Douglas County Nevada from which she retired to travel the U.S. in a motorhome, which was home away from home for 9years.

Visiting longtime friends in Amador County over the years while living in Nevada made it the destination of choice to call home in 2006. Involvement with the AARP Tax Aide Program and HICAP (Medicare Prescription Drug Program Counseling) provided interactivity with community and neighborhood residents and ultimately in 2015, led to volunteering as an LFPD Board Director. However interest in travel and sports is still high on my list.
