Assistance for clearing property and other fire safety activities

Safety Check List
1 - Clear your property a minimum of 30 ft from your home and outbuildings of any vegetation. Due to the extreme fire hazard this year, 100 ft is recommended.

2 - Remove any vegetation over 18 inches tall around homes. Weeds grew rapidly and tall this year.

3 - Be careful operating mowers and weed eaters. Hitting a rock can start a spark. CDF recommends using machinery before 10 am when humidity is higher. If it’s hot, don’t use it. If you must, keep a water source such as a hose nearby to water any sparked areas.

4 - Keep all tree branches trimmed away from the roof of your home. Keep your roof free of needles and leaves.

5 - Call 223-6246 before you burn. This is the automated Amador County Burn Day information hot line. Check back often as all burning permits are soon to be suspended. These are just a few ways in which to keep your home fire safe. Visit the Amador Fire Safe Council offices at 13828 Gold Mine Rd, Unit #9, in Pine Grove to receive pamphlets and important fire safe information. Or call them at 296-6220.
