from Lockwood Fire Protection Auxiliary Meeting, September 10, 2007 The meeting was called to order at 10 am September 10, 2007..The auxiliary was pleased with the turnout of approximately 55 residents at the Barbq/potluck held in honor of the firefighters and EMTs at Station 2 on September 8. Counting donations, we served everyone for and had a balance of $18. It was delicious and well received. Carol Tinney was in charge of selling T-shirts. She reported $200 for the red shirts; $156 for the blue shirts. There was some interest indicated in aprons with the LFPD logo and also caps. Carol will report on the cost of these. It was brought to the attention of the Auxiliary that the propane tank should not have been emptied in the vicinity of Station 2. Theresa will call this to the attention of the President of the Board. We need to have a recycle bin for future events. The next newsletter should request that all attendees for every dinner event should remember to bring their own place settings, saving the Auxiliary the expense of plastic ware and paperplates. The Treasurer reported that we have $31.78 in the Aux. checking account; $2000 in savings. She also noted that we have seven cases of soda stored in the shed at Sta.1. She will reimburse Theresa for the expenditure of $45 for water/soda. Old business: A long discussion was held regarding the equipment belonging to the Auxiliary. Currently there is no check list. This situation will be corrected by an ongoing list of equipment such as tables, chairs, grill, etc. Carol Meachum will be responsible for lableing and maintaining a check list, noting who borrows, who returns, and when.. A donation should be requested and turned over to the Treasurer.Working with Theresa she will prepare a current inventory. She will coordinate this activity with John Asmus, so he will be aware A discussion was held concerning the need for a more structured program for our events. It was suggested that more formal introductions of the FF and EMTs should be made , perhaps by J. Wagner or anyone who is comfortable with this presentation, . Nametags should be offered and guests should be invited to stand and introduce themselves to the crowd, perhaps telling where they live and their occupation, if not retired. We would like to encourage a representative of the FFs describe their activities is the last few months. A demonstration of some kind perhaps how to use a fire extinguisher would be well received. Xmas Party: Alene will see to providing the ham and turkey; attendees will bring potluck dishes. We will ask John A. to provide music; and Bill McKenna will sing. We need to ask someone to act as MC with a mike so that all can be heard easily. These loose ends need to be discussed further at the October meeting. Are we going to utilize a phone tree to invite residents ? Signage: Theresa will contact Rick Urban to assure he knows where the signage cards are located and how to use them. J. McKenna will contact M. Stantish to determine cost of using the Pine Grove sign to advertise events in the future. Not the Xmas party because it is limited to residents within our district, but this advertisement would be of use for upcoming Flea Market, etc. Spaghetti dinner: discussion deferred until next meeting. The next meeting of the Aux. will be October 1, 2007. Respectfully submitted by Joanna McKenna, Secretary |
